KEEP RIPARIAN ZONES AT APPROPRIATE SIZE:
The recommended size of a riparian zone depends on soil type; topography; vegetation type; precipitation; size of stream; and, land-use intensity. Contact one of the agencies listed on the back of this insert to determine the appropriate size for your stream bank.

REPLANT DISAPPEARING RIPARIAN ZONES:
o Select plants based on soil, slope, moisture and sunlight.
o Consider native plants first.
o Plant at appropriate time (typically dormant season).
o Protect newly planted trees and cuttings from
       - deer and beaver-spring and fall.
       - high water conditions.USE RIPRAP TO STABILIZE STREAM BANK AS A LAST RESORT:
       - Contact the Corps of Engineers, Regulatory Office for advice and/or permit (501) 324-5295


CONTROL EROSION:
If disturbing more than one acre of land, make a storm water plan and obtain a StormWater Permit (required) from ADEQ www.adeq.state.ar.us
