When Friends of Mill and Piney Creeks began to meet, it was quickly apparent that Tammi Trotter would be a leader of the group. Her clear vision of the problem and what needed to happen helped the group to focus on goals. The biggest question was “How do we do that?” This is when Jerry Weber and Gene Dunaway from Friends of the North Fork and White Rivers stepped in to help. Their experience dealing with other issues regarding protection of waterways was invaluable and helped the group understand the paths to follow to meet their objectives.
Tammi was recognized for her strong leadership by the Arkansas Watershed Advisory Group (AWAG) and received the Clean Water – Stronger Communities Volunteer Award in 2009. She continues to lead the group today and attends Arkansas Watershed Advisory Group (AWAG) meetings in Little Rock to share experiences with other watershed groups.
