Watershed Defense Fund:

We always make an effort to "work things out" but "Friends don't let friends pollute our rivers, wells and water."

In protecting our rivers, we often have a need for attorneys, engineers, consultants and experts who understand the complex issues we face. This fund will be used exclusively for such purposes.

Friends is "seeding" the fund with $1000 from our general funds, but need additional donations.

We have designated the Mill and Piney Creek watershed as the first project where these funds will be used.

Membership Counts:

Dues-paying members are the heart of our organization and extremely important! The larger and more diverse our member base, the more impact we can have on policy-making.

Membership dues are a critical financial source for undertaking educational and policy initiatives.

Each membership includes a printed copy of our quarterly newsletter, alerts regarding conservation issues in the state or region, and the ability to partner with other citizens like you who love these streams.

Stream Teams

Arkansas’ Stream Team effort (assisted by AGFC) program provides opportunities for concerned citizens to become involved in stream and watershed conservation.

Efforts revolved around three primary aspects of stream conservation: education, stewardship and advocacy.

Education: Volunteers receive training in water-quality monitoring and streambank maintenance and restoration techniques.

Stewardship: Litter control, streambank stabilization, streamside tree plantings, improvement of fish and wildlife habitat, water-quality monitoring and other special projects are all possible.

Advocacy: People with first-hand knowledge of problems, needs and solutions are better equipped to weigh both sides of a stream issue and speak out on behalf of Arkansas’ rivers and streams.
